BOISE, ID. — Police have named Heather D. Davidson a "person of interest" in connection with an alleged hit and run accident at Park and Broadway in Boise on Saturday, Feb. 20, Lynn Hightower said today (Tuesday, March 2). Hightower is the Boise Police Department’s Communications Director.
Davidson, 29, of Nampa, was last seen by family members when she left her home around 4 a. m on Feb. 20, and not long after that, a witness said he saw her fleeing the scene of the Boise accident.
Hightower said Davidson was driving a 1997 GMC van, and was in an accident with a Ford Escort driven by an adult woman. Davidson, she said, apparently ran a red light and struck the woman's vehicle. The woman was injured and transported to a hospital. Hightower said the injuries were not life threatening. She said no warrants have been issued for Davidson’s arrest, but, due to media interest, the case has been turned over to the Ada County prosecutor.
Davidson's brother, Chris Burrup, has organized a search for his sister and created a Facebook page, HelpFindHeather, to publicize that she is missing. On Tuesday, it had 366 members.
Davidson’s mother is the niece of Pat Ridley, a Mack’s Inn resident. Pat’s wife, Kay, is working with Burrup and other family members to raise awareness of Heather’s situation.
Heather left her husband, Bill “Fish” Davidson and their four children, ages two to 10, at home when she drove to Boise. Burrup said he does not know why Heather left home. She is a stay-at-home mom who home-schools the children, he said, and so would not have been going to work.
Boise police have impounded the vehicle and its contents.
In a phone interview Sunday, Feb. 28, Commander Stuart Kelsey of the Boise Police Department said, “Obviously we are very interested in speaking with Heather and hope she contacts us.” He did not say what steps the department is taking, if any, to look for the woman.
Both Burrup and Kay Ridley said members of Heather’s large family are very concerned. Ridley characterized Davidson as the kind of person that would face her problems, not avoid them or run from them. She said they had a pleasant visit with Heather at a family reunion in Mack’s Inn last summer.
Both Burrup and Ridley said the family is very close and it is totally out of character for Heather to stay away from the children and not keep in touch with family members.
The family has distributed posters with Davidson’s photo all over Idaho, in Utah, and in Oregon from Albany to Portland. Burrup said he thinks Davidson’s husband is in Portland now looking for his wife. He said he is not sure why people think she may be in Oregon, but said he does feel that she is not in Boise or Nampa.
Heather was born on April 7, 1980. She has brown hair and hazel eyes, is 5 ft. 9 and weighs 145 pounds. She may have been wearing a long black coat, red shirt, and jeans when she went missing. She has tattoos on her left finger and abdomen. She may be using the name, Ashley Burrup. If you’ve seen her, please call the Boise police, 208.377.6790, or send an e-mail to helpfindheather@gmail.com.
