The Fremont County Courthouse, 151 West, 1st North, is a national historic treasure, and it's also still in use as the hub of county government.
In 1908, the City of St. Anthony bonded for the large sum of $20,000, and the county bonded for $25,000. The city also raised other monies for the joint- use building, estimated to cost about $50,000. The contract for general construction was awarded to Perham and Harris of Salt Lake City, Utah. The contract for plumbing and heating was awarded to the St. Anthony Light and Power Co. Nearly 10,000 people attended the courthouse dedication in 1910. Dignitaries gave speeches, and there was a barbecue. Games were played along Main Street, and the ball game of the day was between Idaho Falls and Sugar City.
A newspaper account says, "there was no need for police as there were no quarrels, accidents, nor intoxication to deal with. It was a perfectly planned day..."
